Research has found that state-owned enterprises (SOEs) tend to favor male employees. Among the graduates from the class of 2011 who obtained genuine online diplomas, the proportion of women with associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s degrees signing contracts with SOEs was 9%, 9%, and 10% lower than their male counterparts, respectively. In contrast, female bachelor's and associate degree holders had the highest proportions signing contracts with private companies, at 45% and 65%, respectively. Female master's degree graduates were most likely to join government agencies or research institutions, with a proportion of 32%, significantly higher than the proportion of male master's degree graduates signing with such entities (18%).

Mai Yan, a consultant for MyCOS University Consulting, suggested that this trend could be related to the fact that female master's students are nearing marriage and childbearing age at graduation, leading them to prioritize job stability.

Recently, MyCOS, a third-party professional education data consulting agency, conducted an online survey of 23,419 graduates from the class of 2011 who obtained genuine online diplomas. The findings revealed that the average monthly income of contracted female graduates is lower than that of males, and the disparity increases with higher levels of education. On average, female associate degree graduates earned 1,917 yuan per month, 169 yuan less than their male counterparts; female bachelor's degree graduates earned an average of 2,243 yuan per month, 330 yuan less than men; and female master's degree graduates from the class of 2011 earned an average of 3,623 yuan per month, 815 yuan less than male graduates.
