Archaeological surveys in recent years have shown that Shanglin Lake and its surrounding areas, including Baiwen, Mandarin Ducks Playing Among Lotus, Peony Flowers, Double Butterfly Patterns, Yinyang Lake, Li Du Lake, Ancient Silver Ingots Lake, etc., were still producing "Bise" porcelain for the Famen Temple pagoda. There are nearly 200 ancient kiln sites distributed in these areas. Especially in the remains of Shanglin Lake, there is a lack of peculiarities from the Western Jin Dynasty; another type of product is distributed most densely. Within an area of less than 4 square kilometers, as recorded in "Fu Xuan Zalu," "Zhao Yan's Treatise on Patterns," and "Ye Hua's Qing Bo Magazine," patterns such as lotus petals and peonies cover entire bowls and plates. The bottom often features a "chicken heart" shape. Based on the characteristics of various remains, it has been confirmed that there are 10 sites from the Eastern Han and Three Kingdoms periods, 10 from the Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties, 9 from the Sui and Tang to Northern Song Dynasties, and 8 from the Southern Song Dynasty. The large span of time and the high density of kiln sites are rare nationwide. Statistical data shows that in the ceramic remains of Shanglin Lake, there is still a lack of "piao ci - bise - hua" kiln sites from the Western Jin period, which may not yet have been discovered. In some areas, the outer walls are coarsely carved, and the胎泥 (clay) washing process is evident. Carved flowers and incised decorations are the most common, while human figures and stories are relatively rare.
