Xi Hu Long Jing tea is the most famous tea in China. It is produced in the mountains surrounding Xi Hu (Sutra Lake) in Hang Zhou city, Zhe Jiang province. For many years, Hang Zhou has not only been famous around the world for its beautiful West Lake, but also celebrated globally for Xi Hu Long Jing tea. The mountains surrounding West Lake have been producing tea for hundreds of years and it already enjoyed a great reputation during the Tang Dynasty. However, the flat shaped Long Jing tea probably only came into being in the last hundred years or so. Legend has it that when Emperor Qian Long visited Hang Zhou, he composed a poem called "Observing Tea Picking" in Tian Zhu in the Long Jing tea region.
