We have already seen many hacks and modifications of the Kinect. Most of them use gesture and motion controls to achieve different effects, but who would dare to use it to control million-volt lightning?
A team from London, consisting of Tom Wyatt and the Hackspace group, made such a crazy move. They obtained a set of Kinect equipment and had Brightarcs provide a pair of Tesla coils. These Tesla coils can instantly boost regular voltage to millions of volts, then release it through the coils, creating an artificial lightning effect.
After successfully integrating the Kinect with the Tesla coils, they began their demonstration. When the user raises a hand, the corresponding Tesla coil releases lightning. When both hands are raised together in a roar-like gesture, doesn't it feel like you're summoning lightning?
This kind of scene is quite suitable for enthusiasts of the "roar style" to create something. You folks playing with Tesla coils, you can't afford the risks! Feel free to leave comments and construct sentences.
