Coins are called "national business cards," and the Renminbi (RMB) is China's business card. To date, five series of RMB have been issued. Do you want to know which landscapes have been honored to be printed on their backs, carrying out the function of a medium of commodity exchange while also conveying the essence of China’s natural beauty, history, and culture across the country’s 9.6 million square kilometers?

Back of the 100 Yuan note from the first set, third version

Back of the 100 Yuan note from the first set, fifth version - Beihai ParkBeihai Park is located in the center of Beijing and is one of China's oldest and best-preserved imperial gardens, with a history of nearly a thousand years. The park covers an area of 68 hectares (including 39 hectares of water), mainly consisting of Qionghua Island, the east bank, and the north bank scenic areas. The development of Beihai Park began during the Liao Dynasty. In 1925, Beihai was opened as a public park.

Back of the 2 Yuan note from the second setBack of the 2 Yuan note from the second set - Yan'an Pagoda MountainYan'an Pagoda Mountain, anciently known as Jialing Mountain, is located southeast of Yan'an city by the Yan River. From the mountain, one can overlook the entire city of Yan'an. Due to the pagoda on the mountain, it is commonly referred to as Pagoda Mountain. The mountain is 1,135.5 meters high, and the pagoda was originally built during the Tang Dynasty, now standing as a Ming Dynasty structure. It is an octagonal plan, nine stories high, approximately 44 meters tall, and a pavilion-style brick tower. Pagoda Mountain is a significant symbol and representation of the revolutionary holy land of Yan'an, where it is said, "Only by climbing Pagoda Mountain can one truly arrive at Yan'an."

Back of the 3 Yuan note from the second set - Longyuankou Stone Bridge in JinggangshanLongyuankou is located below Mount Jinggang and is a national-level scenic area that shares resources with Mount Jinggang. Here occurred the first defense battle of the Jinggangshan struggle and the first major victory in Red Army history — the Great Victory of Longyuankou. Within the area is also the old site of the first rural Party branch personally created by Chairman Mao during the Jinggangshan period — the Autumn Stream Party Branch. This place is a base for patriotism education and also a great spot for leisure vacations, recuperation, and fitness.

Back of the 1 Yuan note from the fourth set - Badaling Great WallBadaling Great Wall is historically known as one of the nine passes under heaven and is the essence and outstanding representative of the ten-thousand-li-long Great Wall, as well as the earliest section open to tourists. Geographically advantageous, Badaling has been a traffic artery leading to Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, and Zhangjiakou since ancient times. To date, Badaling Great Wall has received over 1.2 billion domestic and international tourists, with footprints left by more than 370 foreign heads of state and world figures.

Back of the 2 Yuan note from the fourth set - Nantian Yizhu (Pillar of Heaven)The pattern on the coin has been artistically processed — making the rock stand amidst large waves, appearing grand and spectacular. In reality, this stone is located on the beach. Scientists say that due to recent climate warming and rising sea levels, perhaps one day the scene on the 2 Yuan note will become reality. "Nantian Yizhu" is reportedly inscribed by Fan Yun梯, the governor of Yazhou during the Qing Xuantong era.

Back of the 5 Yuan note from the fourth set - Wuxia GorgeWuxia Gorge starts from Dayinghe River east of Wushan County and ends at Guandu Port in Badong County, stretching 46 kilometers long and known as the Great Gorge, renowned for its deep and beautiful scenery. The peaks on both sides of Wuxia Gorge are famous for the Twelve Peaks, each with its own unique characteristics, especially the Goddess Peak which is particularly graceful and exquisite."Beautiful peaks aren't just twelve, there are countless others." Wuxia Gorge is the most continuous and neatly arranged canyon among the Three Gorges.

This is the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, with a rock summit elevation of 8,844.43 meters.Parameters: Mount Everest's rock summit elevation measurement accuracy ±0.21 meters; snow depth at the summit 3.50 meters.

Back of the 50 Yuan note from the fourth set - Yellow River Hukou FallsHukou Falls is a great spectacle of the Yellow River basin and is China's second-largest waterfall. Hukou is located at the boundary between Yichuan County, Shaanxi Province, and Ji County, Shanxi Province. The Yellow River narrows here from about 400 meters wide to just forty or fifty meters, and the water rushes down, resembling being poured from a giant pot, hence the name "Hukou." Due to the erosion of the river, the Hukou Falls moves upstream a small distance every year. The scene depicted on the current 50 Yuan note will disappear into the roaring Yellow River waters within a few hundred years.

Back of the 100 Yuan note from the fourth set - JinggangshanJinggangshan is located in southwestern Jiangxi Province, situated in the middle section of the Luoxiao Mountains at the Hunan-Jiangxi provincial border, anciently known as "the intersection of Chenzheng Xianggan, the heart of the thousand-mile Luoxiao Mountains." In 1927, the Chinese Communist Party established China's first rural revolutionary base here. In the annals of Chinese revolution, Jinggangshan is hailed as "the cradle of the Chinese revolution," "the cornerstone of the People's Republic of China," and "the number one mountain under heaven."

Back of the 1 Yuan note from the fifth set - San Tan Yin Yue (Three Pools Mirroring the Moon)The patterns on the RMB are not entirely realistic; the photographer's angle could only capture two stone towers. San Tan Yin Yue is one of the Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake in Hangzhou, located in the southern part of the lake, forming the "Three Islands in the Lake" together with Hu Xin Ting and Ruan Gong Dun. They resemble the mythical Penglai Islands of ancient Chinese legends, hence also known as Xiaoyingzhou. During the Northern Song Dynasty, it had already become a moon-viewing spot on the lake. Ming poet Zhang Ning wrote: "A crescent moon rises from the sea, three pools everywhere bright. Amidst the night boats' songs and dances, people walk in a mirror-like path."

Back of the 5 Yuan note from the fifth set - Taishan Guanri PeakThe back pattern of the 5 Yuan note from the fifth set features Mount Tai, but this pattern uses spatial "montage" techniques, combining the 'Supreme of the Five Great Mountains' stone carving and the main peak of Mount Tai into one scene, which cannot be seen in reality. Mount Tai can be considered the first mountain in Chinese culture, although its altitude is only 1546 meters, it holds an extremely high status, being the place where emperors worshipped heaven and earth, announcing their royal authority as in accordance with the Tao of heaven.

Back of the 10 Yuan note from the fifth set - Kuimen at the entrance of QutangxiaKuimen is the western gate of the Yangtze River Three Gorges, also known as "Qutang Pass," located beneath the majestic White Emperor City, serving as the gateway to the Sichuan Basin. Moving eastward from White Emperor City leads into the westernmost Qutang Gorge of the Three Gorges, which is only about 8 kilometers long but the shortest and most magnificent and perilous gorge. Du Fu once wrote: "The White Emperor stands tall as the overseer of the Three Gorges, Qutang Pass is more dangerous than a hundred fortresses."
