TechCrunch started as a tech blog mainly covering the Internet, especially the Web2.0 area, and has now developed into an emerging media company serving network startups. In addition to TechCrunch.com, the main blog (including multiple language versions), it also includes Invite Share, an online project invitation distribution community, CrunchBase, a startup profile database, and the TechCrunch50 Conference (startup conference), etc.

The 2008 TechCrunch50 Conference was held in San Francisco from September 8th to 10th. The conference selected 52 of the most entrepreneurial Web2.0 websites/application service projects from over 1,000 candidate startups. Companies selected for the TechCrunch50 will receive $50,000.
