Recently, I have been tasked with reading several English abstracts. Unfortunately, my English skills aren't that great, so I had to turn to the internet for help. Here, I would like to share some online translation websites that I've compiled, which might come in handy occasionally.
Less familiar translation sites:
1. Wordki - Free online English-English dictionary with instant word definition lookup
Wordki provides a free online English dictionary and uses AJAX technology for real-time word definition queries. Wordki's database is WordNet 3.0, developed by George A. Miller of Princeton University. WordNet is a rather extensive English dictionary database.
2. Mobile Translator - A dedicated mobile translation website supporting 11 world languages!
Mobile Translator was developed by a foreigner named Mike Brittain. Its clean and easy-to-use interface is specifically designed for mobile devices and can be used on iPhone, BlackBerry, and Opera Mini. Currently, Mobile Translator supports 11 languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. Besides single words, it can also translate simple sentences and phrases! If you frequently use your phone to browse the web, why not add Mobile Translator to your bookmarks?
3. Translated - Free online translation service in seventeen languages
TRANSLATED originally started as a human translation company with over tens of thousands of translators. However, TRANSLATED also offers free online translation services, which are computer-generated but still quite effective. It supports seventeen different national languages, including Arabic, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish.
4. Applied Language Online Translation - Multiple language online translation, E-Mail translation, Website translation.
Applied Language is an internet company, and free translation is one of their services. They offer Text Translation (text translation), E-Mail Translation (email translation), and Website Translation (website translation). Currently, they support multiple conversions including English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Arabic, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Russian. The E-Mail Translation feature directly translates emails within the webpage and sends them to the recipient, while Website Translation allows direct translation of websites.
