Plurk has all the basic features of a microblogging platform: one-sentence blogs, inviting friends, following friends, the ability to post updates and reply to friends' messages, with the same 400-character limit. It supports integration with IM and mobile applications, and it also has some kind of star ranking system. In terms of functionality, there doesn't seem to be much innovation. However, the UI design is really great; it displays the latest posts from you and your friends on a timeline, and there are quick-posting functions when publishing updates, etc.
