On the morning of December 11, NetEase announced the official release of its self-developed search engine "Youdao", along with the beta versions of two products: news search and "Youdao Reader," an online RSS reader.
The official version upgrades the existing beta products of Youdao, including web search, image search, blog search, a massive dictionary, and the desktop dictionary. In conjunction with the launch of the official Youdao version, the NetEase homepage will also be adjusted to highlight the Youdao search box.
NetEase CEO Ding Lei stated: "The official release of our self-developed search engine Youdao is a reflection of the development and evolution of the Chinese internet over the past decade. Youdao Search embodies NetEase's mission to make it easier for Chinese users to access the internet."
In his remarks, Ding Lei compared search engines to email, noting that NetEase's email service currently holds a leading position in China.
