The first contact with DIG website was from the Geek I saw in Computer Enthusiast. Since then, I have been paying attention to it.
Geek is one of the earlier domestic DIG websites, but it did not seize the opportunity to achieve better results.
That's right, Geek keeps adding some new features. But as a DIG website, its vitality lies in the active participation of many netizens. Unfortunately, Geek does not perform particularly well in this aspect.
A professional DIG website must have professional mining and recommendation procedures, as well as corresponding积分reward programs. Below are my opinions and suggestions on this point, purely personal views.
How to motivate netizens?
Now the content recommended on the Geek homepage is "picked" by a few editors. This is fatal for encouraging more netizens to actively post mined information. Because it is unreasonable to "decide" the preferences of many netizens based solely on the preferences of a few editors. A reasonable system should be based on allowing many netizens to choose which information should be recommended to the homepage. Isn't there a big "vote up" button in front of every newly released piece of information? Under the existing system where editors choose information to recommend, this "vote up" is largely a decoration. That's why you see that the "vote up" count for the most popular information recommended on the Geek homepage seems to be only around ten or so. This also shows that this "vote up" has no substantial effect.
In fact, the number of "vote ups" can completely determine which information should be recommended to the homepage. For example, getting 10 votes up. Of course, you might say that cheating could occur in this way. This is where the editors come into play. On the other hand, such cheating can also be constrained by setting the number of burials. For example, information buried more than 10 times cannot be recommended to the homepage.
There seems to be little punishment for providers of junk information here. Sometimes there will be dozens or even twenty pieces of junk information posted by the same person consecutively.
These are my humble opinions, written rather messily. Just bear with me while reading :)
