The next generation of Ubuntu 8.04, codenamed "Hardy Heron," has released its third Alpha test version today.
Compared to Ubuntu 7.10, Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha 3 integrates the latest components such as the Xorg 7.3 graphical interface, Linux Kernel 2.6.24, PulseAudio sound server, PolicyKit permissions system, and Firefox 3.0 Beta 2 browser. Of course, these components will be further upgraded in the final official release.
Ubuntu 8.04 will be released in April 2008 and will become the second Long Term Support (LTS) version. Desktop users and enterprise edition users will receive technical support for three years and five years respectively.
