Within this week, Skype will release a Skype Toolkit for Mac OS X users. The Mac X 1.5 Skype software included in the toolkit will feature versions in Chinese, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Dutch. After the update, the Mac Skype software will include enhanced call features available in the Windows system, reconfigured chat icons, and an improved database capable of storing different country codes. Additionally, SkypeWeb users can use presence detectors to display their online status. Besides the Skype software, the toolkit also includes a USB stereo headset. Senior Analyst at IDC, Rebecca Swensen, believes that to attract VoIP users, Skype aims to further expand into the OSX and enterprise user markets. Previously, Skype signed an agreement with Polycom to facilitate conference call capabilities for Skype users.
