NASA's Juno probe beamed back its first picture of Earth, showing off amazing views of our home. The photo was taken while Juno performed a maneuver to circle the Earth. The probe used Earth's gravity as a slingshot to head for Jupiter. This "space slingshot" helped increase Juno's speed from 78,000 miles per hour (about 125,000 kilometers per hour) to 87,000 miles per hour (about 140,000 kilometers per hour), fast enough to travel through the asteroid belt and enter Jupiter's orbit. It is estimated that Juno will reach Jupiter in 2016.
