A team in Canada is developing an open-source aircraft that everyone can afford, with a cost of only 15,000 US dollars. Members of the Maker Plane project have launched a fundraising campaign on the indiegogo platform with a target of 75,000 US dollars to design a two-seat light aircraft. They also plan to freely release all the aircraft design blueprints. The planned aircraft will have a maximum weight of 1,320 pounds, a top speed of 120 knots, and a flight range of 400 kilometers, with the cost including the engine being less than 15,000 US dollars. Maker Plane stated that if the fundraising is successful, the first prototype will take its maiden flight in 2015.
