Tsinghua University developed XuetangX, a Chinese version of online educational platform based on MIT’s OpenEdX. Not many courses were available in the first batch; only a few, such as MIT’s Electric Circuits, Tsinghua University’s Electric Circuits, History of Chinese Architecture, Data Structure, Peking University’s Principles and Practice of Computer-Aided Translation, etc. Sun Maosong, person in charge of XuetangX and professor at Tsinghua University, said that any student with Internet access could study course videos online through this platform. “Currently, thousands of people can use it simultaneously.” In the future, they may track students’ learning effects, provide personalized services, introduce intelligent Q&A similar to Siri service of iPhone, or even develop mobile client.
