According to foreign media reports, the British court has ruled that Microsoft's SkyDrive brand infringes on the trademark "Sky" of News Corporation's subsidiary, British Sky Broadcasting Company (BSkyB). In the settlement agreement reached on Wednesday, Microsoft confirmed its agreement to rename its global cloud storage service brand SkyDrive, and it will not appeal the court's decision. However, Microsoft may continue to use the SkyDrive brand "for a reasonable period of time" to smoothly transition to the new brand.
In addition, the agreement on Wednesday also included financial and other terms, but both BSkyB and Microsoft are keeping these details confidential.
