IT Leaders Summit? Please don't insult the word "leader".

Does China have IT leaders? What is this summit for?

A leader, by definition, is a role model. In my understanding, an IT leader should be a leading figure in the IT industry - someone who innovates, reforms, pioneers in technology, and guides in spirit. Whether in their professional field or in their public statements, they are respected figures. But today, the so-called "IT leaders" we see are just a group of moneyed merchants, bloated with wealth but devoid of any innovative spirit.

Summit? A peak meeting that gathers these so-called IT leaders – what do they actually discuss? Nothing substantial. They talk about outdated technological trends, overhyped concepts that have been repeated ten thousand times, and then happily and thoroughly discuss the latest successful applications abroad, focusing on how to copy them as quickly as possible, how to rebrand them, and how to become even more aggressive in making more money.

They discuss how to survive by clinging to outdated methods, how to shirk responsibility, how to congratulate themselves, and how to work in isolation, rather than taking on the "reform" tasks expected of true leaders.

They talk about internet applications, but first, please address the internet environment before jumping into applications. Big and empty slogans are useless – it's like building a web in isolation and admiring one's own reflection! If you call yourselves IT leaders, why don't you take on the responsibility of improving the internet environment? Can you discuss ways to enhance domestic network levels? Can you discuss the role leaders should play in opening up China’s network environment? Can you discuss how to raise your leadership banner and shout for users? Instead of waving the flag of leadership just to sweep the snow from your own doorstep! Therefore, I personally do not recognize these so-called leaders!

They also talk about how microblogging changes life, but when others were popularizing microblogging, you were worrying about not being shut down like other platforms; when others were getting stronger, you were thinking about how to suppress competitors and imitate better. When Facebook was worth hundreds of billions, you couldn’t even get people interested in stealing virtual vegetables anymore! When Location-Based Services (LBS) were going crazy abroad, you were still discussing a so-called 3G that’s slower than a snail. So, what have you, these so-called leaders, done for China’s internet? Don’t tell me it’s because of China’s internet environment. That’s our common folk’s complaint, not your excuse as "leaders"!

They also say social networking changes search, but try changing search in China. Look at what so-called social networks and microblogs provide – how much valuable content do they offer? How many fresh insights come from user-driven discoveries instead of policy support? It’s all meaningless complaints, self-pity, and entertainment to the point of death! Changing search? IT leaders? Do something practical! If you want to be respected like Google or Facebook, then act accordingly!

Now let's look at what our so-called giant leaders are talking about:

Li Yanhong (Robin Li) said: If Baidu Library doesn't work out, we'll just stop it. What kind of attitude is this? Not even mentioning the illegal actions of your company, just deflecting the topic to gain sympathy? This is similar to how Li Gang used his “child” to sidestep the fact of his son's crime.

Baidu is launching another browser, copying Google even more thoroughly, not even bothering to change the interface. This is the leader’s version of a Beta test – a complete knockoff. Where has the leader's spirit of innovation and reform gone?

What did Pony Ma (Ma Huateng) say? I didn’t watch the video, but how can Pony Ma be called a leader? Has he always relied on imitation, produced nothing new besides QQ, monopolized the market, and abused his position to suppress competitors, and yet still be considered a leader?

Our concept of leadership has been completely distorted. Having money automatically makes one a leader, and some people who are completely despised by users have somehow become leaders!

IT Leaders Summit? Please rename it to IT Business Summit. What kind of leaders are you? These businessmen, please don’t insult the word "leader"!
