China's internet popularization started relatively late, and by the time many Chinese people began to learn how to use the internet, most of the good international domain names had already been registered by others. For domestic enterprises, if they want to find a decent and meaningful international domain name, generally speaking, they can only rely on acquisitions.
Apparently, Chinese people are more accepting of pinyin domain names than those that are phonetically translated but not English words. In recent years, with the increase in foreign investment in China, some short pinyin domain names have started to become popular, sparking a new wave of registration and acquisition investment fever. This trend is most evident in the recently popular SNS (Social Networking Services). Below are some representative social networking sites I found, introduced in reverse order starting from the fifth.
Fifth place: Nacun (That Village) http://nacun.com
Nacun is an emerging family social platform that moves real-life family relationships online while ensuring user information security. The domain name "Nacun" evokes a sense of returning to nature. Going to the village, isn't it also a form of returning to simplicity? Perhaps in the near future, someone from the village will tell me, "I saw you in Nacun," and I would ask them, "Which village are you from?"
Fourth place: Baihe (Lily) http://baihe.com
Baihe means "a hundred years of harmony," which is quite suitable for a dating site. It carries a blessing and a chance encounter. Compared to "JiaWoWang" (Marry Me Network) or "Shiji Jiayuan" (Century Good Match), this should be the best website name and domain name domestically.
Third place: Zhanzuo (Seating Reservation) http://zhanzuo.com
A few years ago, a song called "University Students' Self-Study Melody" was popular, with a segment describing the scene of students rushing to grab seats in the self-study room. The name "Zhanzuo" resonates well with students, catchy and very suitable for campus dating. In my personal view, this domain name transcends the campus. With increasing social competition, there is seating reservation for work and love reservation. There was a rumor that Facebook wanted to acquire Zhanzuo for $85 million. I wonder if it's not just because of Zhanzuo's influence itself, but also partly due to its domain name.
Second place: Hainei (Within the Sea) http://hainei.com
"Hainei is a real person network." As the saying goes, "A bosom friend afar brings a distant land near." Clearly, Hainei is an invaluable good domain name, and the website was created by the founder of Xiaonei (Campus Inside). In my view, Hainei and Tianya's domain names are like a pair of sister domain names. I believe this domain name will be highly valued under Wang Xing's management.
First place: Xiaonei (Campus Inside) http://xiaonei.com
Xiaonei has moved beyond the campus and into the white-collar world. Xiaonei is indeed a good domain name for the campus, but it clearly cannot meet the current scope. The international domain name of tianya (Tianya Club) is still being wasted by another company. I wonder if Chen Yizhou of Xiaonei has ever considered acquiring tianya.
