[Slashdot News] An article in Computerworld reported that IBM is suing Shentech for selling flammable counterfeit batteries bearing the IBM logo for laptops. A customer purchased a laptop battery from Shentech which caught fire and damaged his laptop, prompting him to file a complaint with IBM. IBM investigated this complaint thoroughly. The customer reported the issue to Lenovo (which has licensed Big Blue's trademark rights), and subsequently ordered 12 batteries from Shentech, discovering all of them to be fake. IBM believes this severely damages their interests and is claiming $100,000 for each counterfeit battery sold.
