The company at Freewebs will be offering a new service: Fotowoosh, which converts any image into 3D. It's not a new thing, but this time we can try it for ourselves. The service isn't officially open yet, but Freewebs says it expects that in a few weeks, users will be able to upload a 2D image, convert it into a 3D animation and embed it on any website. The 3D images are created in the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) format, and according to the company, "the system can automatically build a simple 3D model that labels outdoor images as different areas, sky, ground, vertical lines, etc." Microsoft is doing similar research, but using multiple images to build 3D models.
