Apple introduced the iPod photo on October 28, 2004 (after a month of sales, the capital P was changed to a lowercase letter in accordance with the iPod family naming rules). It uses 65,536 colors, a 220x176-point color screen, and has the ability to store and display JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, and PNG images. It's 1mm thicker than a standard fourth-generation iPod, and the iPod Photo can play music for up to 15 hours per charge. iPodphoto starts with 40GB and 60GB versions for $499 and $599, respectively.
