Beijing time January 28 news, according to foreign media reports, Nokia recently announced that the company acquired the German mobile phone software manufacturer bit-side GmbH.
Nokia hopes that the acquisition of bit-side GmbH will help strengthen and accelerate the development of Nokia Maps applications. "Nokia has been working with bit-side GmbH since 2007 and the company has become our strategic development partner," said Michael Halbherr, vice president of Nokia.
Thom Brenner, Executive Director of bit-side GmbH, said, "For us, joining Nokia is an exciting opportunity that will serve as a catalyst for our development work. "We share the same vision with Nokia on social and location services."
Upon completion of the transaction in the first quarter of 2009, bit-side GmbH will become part of Nokia's Services division. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. (Compiled/Chaulhui)
