Salesforce.com announced an alliance with Facebook and Amazon on Monday to promote its online software-as-a-cloud computing service, US media reported.
Google is the world's largest provider of personal online applications, while Salesforce.com is a pioneer in enterprise software. On Monday, at a development conference in San Francisco, Salesforce.com announced that it is joining forces with Facebook and Amazon.
Under the agreement with Facebook, Facebook users can develop web applications used by Salesforce.com, which can also be used on Facebook. Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg said that Facebook has a lot of room to grow when it comes to enterprise applications.
Salesforce.com currently offers a large number of enterprise online applications for which users pay a subscription fee. Third-party developers can create a variety of online applications that can be marketed to Salesforce.com's enterprise customers.
Salesforce.com also said it would allow customers to develop enterprise applications using Amazon.com Inc's Web services. Currently, Amazon offers cloud computing infrastructure services such as online storage.
On Monday, Salesforce.com also announced a tool to help companies build internal and external websites. If the page traffic is less than 1 million, enterprise users do not have to pay, and subsequent traffic will be charged.
