The "e-paper", called FLEPia, is available in A4 and A5 sizes, both 12mm thick, and can be used continuously for up to 50 hours. Its biggest feature is that the LCD screen of an ordinary laptop can not be displayed without power, and the "electronic paper" can continuously display the screen for a long time even if the power is cut off, which is like a newspaper in general, can meet the reading needs of any occasion.
It is reported that FLEPia is the first time that a portable information terminal device with colored "electronic paper" has been commercialized globally, but the high price is inevitably prohibitive. The A5 model is currently priced at 150,000 yen and the A4 model at 250,000 yen, and Fujitsu hopes to lower the final product price to 40,000 yen and 60,000 yen, respectively, after mass production.
