Today, Google released a festive logo commemorating the invention of the laser (originally called '镭射' in Chinese). The original Chinese name for laser was "镭射" or "莱塞", which are phonetic translations of the English term LASER. LASER is an acronym formed from the first letters of the words in "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation," meaning "light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation." The full English name of the laser fully expresses the main process of its creation. In 1964, following a suggestion by the renowned Chinese scientist Qian Xuesen, the term "光受激发射" was changed to "激光."
