Jolla launches its first Sailfish phone

In 2011, Nokia announced the abandonment of MeeGo. Nokia launched only one phone N9 on this platform. Thereafter, Nokia fully transferred to Windows Phone platform. However, the story of MeeGo did not end here. Some former members of the MeeGo team formed a new start-up company Jolla and reborn MeeGo as Sailfish OS. Now, this smartphone equipped with the brand-new Sailfish OS has finally been launched.

At 0:30 am on May 21st, Jolla officially released its first Jolla mobile phone equipped with the brand-new Sailfish platform in Helsinki, Finland. The mobile phone supports Android applications, is priced at 399 Euros, and will be officially launched at the end of this year.

The most distinctive feature of the Jolla mobile phone is the special bottom plate design that allows half of the body (back cover) to separate from the other half of the body. The mobile phone has many colored plastic back covers, including light blue, green, white, and orange for users to choose from. Users can change the back cover of the mobile phone, and the Sailfish system can identify the color of the back cover and change the user interface theme. Jolla refers to this function as "The Other Half". By "the other half", the mobile phone becomes more vivid and distinctive.

In terms of configuration, the Jolla mobile phone adopts a 4.5-inch screen, is equipped with a dual-core processor, has an 8 million pixel rear camera, has a detachable battery design, and supports 4G LTE network. Its storage space is 16GB and it supports microSD card expansion. The Jolla mobile phone will be officially launched at the end of this year, priced at 399 Euros (approximately RMB 3160). Currently, the mobile phone has been available for pre-order, and pre-order users will have the opportunity to get a limited edition back cover "The Other Half".

Previously, Jolla sent out invitations to the media, stating that it would hold a press conference in Beijing at the beginning of May to introduce this Sailfish system to Chinese consumers. However, it was postponed due to certain reasons. It seems now that it is estimated to be released together with the mobile phone when it is listed.
