Safdie Architects recently unveiled the architectural plan for the Chongqing Chaotianmen CBD complex. After drawing inspiration from the local history, especially the maritime history, the entire site was designed to resemble an ancient Chinese merchant ship. In the future, the six towering and slightly curved skyscrapers that will rise from this location will look both like a ship's bow cutting through waves and like sails billowing in the sea breeze. Among these, the two central towers will serve as serviced apartments, restaurants, private residential units, and commercial spaces, while the other four buildings will be residential towers.
Wait, doesn't the suspended garden bridge connecting the four tall buildings give you a sense of familiarity? Yes, it reminds one of Marina Bay Sands. In fact, its designer is also Safdie Architects. As Aaron M explained in the source, visual continuity between projects is logically part of an architect's career. However, from another perspective, this also indicates that the key lies in whether you have a signature dish rather than how many dishes you can cook. Occasionally bringing out your signature dish, adding some new side dishes, and it becomes a new dish.
