Simon Dale, a 32-year-old photographer, was extremely tired of being a mortgage slave and harbored infinite passion for nature. So he went to Wales, determined to design and build a wooden house by himself despite having no experience in architecture or carpentry. In exchange for helping the owner of the forest guard this area, they were lucky enough to obtain free land between the woods. Moreover, the local forestry area generously donated some wood materials.
The wooden house, which looks very similar to the Hobbit houses in "The Lord of the Rings," was completed in four months at a cost of $5,200 with the help of his father-in-law as the builder. A large amount of environmental protection materials were used during the construction process, including recycled wooden floorboards, straw bale interior walls and roofs, as well as solar panels. Dale is currently dedicated to transforming this little wooden house into the first eco-house in St. Peter's Village, Wales.
