Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak recently held a public Q&A session where he discussed Steve Jobs' technical background: Jobs never wrote code. Wozniak wrote: "Steve never wrote any code. He wasn't an engineer and didn't do original designs, but he had enough technical knowledge to modify, adjust, and supplement other designs."
This image has already been depicted in Walter Isaacson's biography of Jobs. Jobs would refine the work of his employees, making changes and improvements based on his own understanding.
Regardless, it seems odd that Jobs would ask his employees to do things that he wouldn't personally undertake. Some of today's tech giants, such as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Tumblr founder David Karp, have all written code at some point.
