Steal nothing but Apple, the anti-theft service of Macbook has started internal testing.

Recently, Apple has launched an important function of its aggressive iCloud, the internal testing of "Find My Mac", a kind of anti-loss function similar to "Find My iPhone" using geo-location and remote control. The current version is a beta version that does not offer public testing but only allows developers of the tenth generation Lion system to conduct internal testing.

If your MBA gets lost, no matter where it is taken, as long as it is turned on... (Of course, the prerequisite is that there is a network.)

It is worth noting that this function does not use common GPS technology as a tracking method. Instead, it uses the Wi-Fi hotspots or external IP addresses that the lost device connects to. Once the loser logs into the iCloud webpage and activates the Find My Mac function, they can see on the map exactly where their beloved MacBook is. Thanks to the powerful full-disk protection function of the Lion system, users can remotely lock the screen of the lost MacBook or even erase all data on the hard drive. At the same time, once the function is activated, the loser can use the Find My iPhone application on their iPhone or iPad to track their beloved MacBook until the bad guy is caught.

This function is expected to be released together with iCloud in September, at which time all Apple users can rest assured to store X photos in their MacBook without worrying about becoming the second Mr. Chen.
