Matches, which have already been completely replaced by lighters and are no longer available for purchase everywhere, have been rejuvenated by the hands of these two Japanese women, Hirasaki Kimi and Yamada Akiko. It's not an exaggeration to call it art.

In 1994, while working at an advertising company, Hirasaki Kimi quickly gained fame during a creative competition with the theme of boxes when she painted vivid images of ancient Japanese dolls on one hundred matchsticks. Subsequently, her creatively designed matches became a popular souvenir in the Osaka area. Although now, due to increased business volume, the matches are produced using machines, their cute designs and the beautiful memories they symbolize can still touch us.
