Gothic encompasses various meanings, including architecture, literature, color, and music. There are misconceptions about goth; gothic thoughts are mainly based on aesthetics rather than morality or politics. Violence and hatred are not elements that constitute gothic thought. On the contrary, part of gothic thought consists of the awareness, understanding, and sorrow of social or personal sins that mainstream culture wishes to ignore or forget. It emphasizes individualism, inclusiveness towards diversity, creativity, rationalism, aversion to social conservatism, and a tendency towards mild cynicism. However, these ideas do not apply to all members.
