Andrew Myers can be considered one of the most patient artists of our time! This sculptor from the California beaches creates these astonishing screw-based 3D portrait sculptures in a complex and time-consuming manner. He starts with plywood as the base, then tears out pages from phone books, gluing them one by one to build up the surface. What's even cooler is that the phone books are specially chosen from the area where his portrait models actually live. Next, he manually drills 8,000 to 10,000 holes into the panel, and then individually screws in each screw by hand, using varying heights to create a three-dimensional effect. But it’s not done yet—finally, he must painstakingly paint the end of each screw to bring the entire portrait to life!
