Tencent Technology News (by Ye Gucheng, editor) According to the UK's Daily Mail, recently a Russian astronomer captured astonishing rainbow clouds over Mount Everest. This year, 51-year-old Oleg Bartunov (Oleg Bartunov) captured this scene during a Himalayan expedition in Nepal.

These two images show nearly complete-spectrum rainbows, and such natural phenomena are very rarely seen on Mount Everest. It is claimed that this occurs due to ice crystals in the cloud layer reflecting light. Bartunov said: "I only took two photos; I think one should spend more time admiring such magnificent natural scenery with their eyes."

The light reflected by the clouds comes from the sun, which is at the perfect angle relative to the clouds, thus creating this magical effect. Bartunov stated, "When I saw this sight, I was very shocked and couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing was real. I then asked other people nearby, confirming that it was indeed genuine rainbow clouds."

Bartunov is a researcher at the Sternberg Astronomical Institute in Moscow, Russia. He said: "At the time, there was a group of elderly British women near me, and I told them to watch this spectacular cloud phenomenon. But when they tried to capture it with ordinary cameras, they complained they couldn't get clear images. Afterward, I asked some locals if they had seen such spectacular clouds, but no one claimed to have seen them. Therefore, I feel this must be an extremely rare natural phenomenon."
