"Top Cities in China: The Most Worthy Chinese Cities to be Introduced to the World" is a large-scale TV event hosted by CCTV, co-organized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the United Nations Development Program, and the American National Geographic Channel. Its aim is to coincide with the arrival of the Olympic Games, through collaboration with international organizations, using platforms such as the National Geographic Channel, over 20 provincial and municipal TV stations domestically, and more than 100 authoritative print and online media outlets both at home and abroad, to create an international runway for Chinese cities. This will allow them to showcase a more authentic and beautiful picture of China to the world. At the same time, by promoting the four recommended standards of "green, civilized, vibrant, harmonious," it aims to tangibly enhance the overall competitiveness of all participating cities.
Currently, the "Top Cities in China" event has received strong support and active response from more than 180 cities across the country. Cities such as Nanjing, Dalian, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Chengdu, Qingdao, Xian, and Harbin have actively participated and successively held large-scale "City Day" theme activities involving widespread participation from their citizens. In 2008, we will continue to build the "Top Cities in China" brand.
