Lasko was born in 1915, participated in World War II, and was once a graphic designer. After retiring in 1990, Lasko accidentally discovered that his grandson, Ryan Lasko, was using Microsoft Paint to create paintings. Since then, he has deeply fallen in love with this way of painting.
However, in 2005, due to wet age-related macular degeneration, Lasko lost the central vision in both eyes. Despite the worsening condition, Lasko did not give up and spent more than 10 hours a day in front of the computer using Microsoft Paint to create.
Hal Lasko did not use any other painting tools but created pixel art works solely with the built-in Microsoft Paint tool. Such wonderful artworks were created by a blind man in his 90s.
Currently, prints of Hal Lasko's works are available for sale on his website, each priced at $98. Lasko will donate ten percent of the proceeds to an association for overseas war veterans.
