Russian painter A. Kurkin (Aleksandr Kurkin) was born in Russia in 1947. He illustrated many of Pushkin's fairy tales. In 1961 he painted Pushkin's fairy Tale poem The Tale of Tsar Saltan, and in 1965 he painted Tale of the Golden Cockerel. In 1968 he painted Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Knights... These illustrations are close in style, with strong Russian national customs and strong decoration.
